Cheap and cosy accomodations in Sarajevo

The tourist season is almost upon us. Sarajevo is a city that is gaining more and more interest from tourists in the past years. In the last few years, Sarajevo was named one of the top 10 destinations to visit by the recommendations of the Lonely Planet tourist guide. The country itself has been named one of top ten halal destinations and the best destination in National Geographic's Tour of Life 2012.

Along the expensive hotels, there are numerous cheap lodgings, motels, hotels and boarding houses for tourists to stay in. 

It seems that, apart from good, cheap food and splendid nightlife, Sarajevo has another quality: unobtrusiveness and the fact that all important events are happening in the area of two to three kilometres.

We have selected accomodations, found near the most attractive locations in the city; most of which are located few minutes from objects in the historic core of the city. 

Hostel New Age

Hostel New Age is located in the old part of the city; near the center of Sarajevo. Because of this, Hostel is surrounded by bars, clubs and coffee shops and located five minutes from the famous Cathedral. 

Hostel offers four-bed rooms and six-bed rooms for the price of 11 EUR and 13 EUR. Guests have the services of free parking, usage of a computer with free Internet access, living room, TV, kitchen, shared bathroom, rooms for smokers and non-smokers and a garden for all guests to use. Breakfast is not included in the price. Payment is conducted in cash only. 

Hostel Tito

Hostel is located in the main street, which was given it's name after the yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito, in Sarajevo. The hostel offers rooms with six and eight beds, for the price of 10 EUR, private rooms with single, double and triple beds for the price of 15 to 18 EUR. Hostel offers free WiFi Internet access and three parking places. The hostel has four bathrooms with showers and bathtub. Guests can use the kitchen, living room and breakfast; with the previous announcement. Smokers can use the terrace. 

Pansion MIS Sarajevo

Pansion MIS Sarajevo offers double rooms, triple rooms and four-bed rooms, as well as suits for three to four persons, at the price of 13,90 EUR per person with additional cost of 2,5 EUR for breakfast per person. Every room has a bathroom with installed hydro-massage cabins. Rooms have satellite TV, telephones, Internet access, a well equipped mini bar and a parking with video surveillance. Payment is conducted in cash only. 

Hotel Sokak

Motel Ada

Pansion Stari Grad

Visitors of one of the best websites about hostels, Hostelworld, added Travellers Home Hostel in Sarajevo as one of the best in the world. 

"Travellers Home Hostel is perfect for anyone who wishes to spend a comfortable and relaxing stay. It is located in a renovated elegant building form the austro-hungarian period and offers the best possible accomodation", says the hostel's website. 

Hostel offers double beds at the price of 30 EUR (60 BAM) and 35 EUR (70 BAM), triple beds for 45 EUR (90 BAM) and rooms with eight beds for 100 EUR (200 BAM). Hostel offers the services of overnight stay with breakfast. Insurance and local taxes are included in the price. Group visits are given a discount. 

Rooms include satellite and cable TV, Internet access, mini bar and a safe. Guests can also use room service, laundry room, terrace and a parking. 

Pansion Skend

Hotel Skend is decorated in the traditional bosnian style. It is located in the center of Sarajevo, near the famous Skenderija. 

Skend offers the services of overnight stay with breakfast. Local taxes are included in the price. Longer stays by larger groups can get a discount. Skend offers single rooms for 35 EUR (70 BAM), double rooms for 50 EUR (100 BAM), triple rooms for 70 EUR (140 BAM) and suits for the price of 85 EUR (170 BAM) and 100 EUR (200 BAM). 

All guests can use the fully equipped kitchen, separate bathrooms, Internet access and satellite and cable TV. 

Eko selo – Eco futura

If you are interested in an alternative kind of accomodation, away from the city, Eco Village is the right thing for you. It is located 12 kilometers from the old part of Sarajevo in Hreša. 

It is located in a area of untouched nature on 1200 m of elevation, with clear air and water and isolated from industrial objects. 

Entrance is free. Eco village offers parking, double rooms with separate and double beds and five-bed rooms and family rooms. One of the main objects in the village is a reustarant with organic food ideal for vegetarians and vegans. 

Price of a overnight stay without breakfast, per person, is 29 EUR (58 KM); with breakfast - 34 EUR (68 BAM). Children under 12 years of age have free lodgings and the use of Eco village's content with the possibility of paying 20 EUR (40 BAM) for the additional bed.
